Russia mulls allowing cryptocurrency for international payments

(Reuters) – Russia is contemplating permitting cryptocurrency for use for worldwide funds, Interfax information company quoted a authorities official as saying on Friday.

“The concept of utilizing digital currencies in transactions for worldwide settlements is being actively mentioned,” Ivan Chebeskov, head of the finance ministry’s monetary coverage division, was quoted as saying.

Russian officers are wrestling with find out how to regulate the nation’s crypto market and use of digital currencies, with the finance ministry against the central financial institution’s requires a blanket ban.

Discussions have been ongoing for months and although the federal government expects cryptocurrencies to be legalised as a way of cost ultimately, no consensus has but been reached.
